WBD – England x Reader

“(f/n), meet your blind date Arthur!” Jill said, waving a hand at the heart in the wall behind you as it began to spin around slowly.

Standing there was a young man holding a rose and a small green stuffed bunny. Arthur was about your height, if a little taller, with shaggy blond hair and emerald green eyes under thick eyebrows. Upon seeing him, your hands itched for a pencil and a sketchbook, or at least a camera to have a picture to remember this by. He smiled and waved at you before handing you both things.

“Oh, my goodness, thank you so much!” you said, hugging the bunny and smelling the rose. The bunny was so cute and soft! You hugged both things to your chest.

“You’re welcome, love.”

“Aw, we already have a couple that’s going to work out!” Jill said. The two of you turned red, and you giggled while she continued. “So, (f//n), you’re an illustrator and photographer for books and Arthur is an author. Have you guys worked together before?”

“No, we haven’t. Though I have read some of his books and thought it would be fun to do some drawings for them,” you replied. “I loved what I’ve read of his works.”

“Thank you, love,” Arthur said. He put his arm around your shoulder. “I’ve seen some of your work, and I like yours as well.”

“Well, thank you,” you said with a laugh.

“Oh! So even if this doesn’t work out then you guys have business partners in each other!”

You looked at Arthur and smiled. “Yes, I believe we will.”

“Arthur, any plans for after this?”

“Well, I haven’t thought about it. I didn’t want to get my hopes too high, but now I believe I’ll be fine,” he said with a dazzling and lopsided smile.

Jill smiled at both of you but paused. “(f/n), why is your hand shaking?” You looked down and noticed it was moving as if you were shading hair or painting.

“Oh, this? It happens a lot if I feel the need to draw something,” you answered, glancing at Arthur and his small smile. You smiled too.

Somehow the two of you had managed to make it to the Wipeout Zone. You and Arthur were really getting along well. He had even come up with a pet name for you: his little bunny. It was adorable, and you loved it. Throughout the day, he had been cheering you on and keeping your hopes up in his amazing British accent. He was such a gentleman, even though it was hard to be a gentleman during this sort of thing.

He had just done his part. You were the last one of the day. The time to beat from the other team was about 25 minutes. You climbed into the catapult seat and looked at the camera for a second.

“I’m getting second thoughts about this. But I’m glad I met Arthur. Oh, boy…” you said.

The horn went off, and the catapult launched you into the air. You yelped, but then did your best to angle yourself for a dive. The water was freezing, but you still swam as fast as you could toward the giant bowl that was the next obstacle.

You jumped into the bowl to find it was full of foam and extremely slippery. After slipping twice, you slapped the foam and earned foam eyebrows and a foam beard. “How did Arthur manage to do this?”

You thought you heard him shout something to you, but you weren’t sure you really did. Finally, you caught onto one of the spokes and managed to ride it around. You landed the jump out of the bowl, barely avoiding a slipup. The next obstacle was a series of three sets of sweeper arms.

“How am I supposed to do this?” you cried.

“You can do it, my bunny!” you heard Arthur shout from where he was waiting.

You took a deep breath and leapt onto the obstacle. You made it to the second of three before a sweeper arm carried you off. The water greeted you with open arms, and the swim back to the beginning of this obstacle in the frigid water was not fun. It took only one more try to make it through this obstacle.

Up next was something that looked like half a rib cage. “Am I supposed to run across?”

The ribs began to drop out from under you as you ran. At about the fifth or sixth you began heading down for the water. Once up the ladder for the final section, you stared at the next part for a moment. It was two sections of wall lined with foam and canvas spikes that you had to run by. You tried to run past the first one, only to be hit and sent into the water.

The second time, you got by. The next obstacle was a grouping of spinning arms arranged into circles around the bar above a small walkway you had to walk past. In the middle of the obstacle you got hit and sent into the water. You had to swim back before the spiked walls. This time, you made it past and onto the final spot.

You shouted in victory for having finished and did a backflip off the pedestal. On the swim towards where Arthur was waiting with Jill, you shouted questions at them.

“So what time did we get? Did I do alright?”

Arthur helped you out of the water and into a thick coat. “Don’t talk too much, love. You’ve exhausted yourself,” he said as he helped you towards Jill.

“Arthur, (f/n), you just won Wipeout!” Jill shouted.

The two of you screamed in excitement. You threw your arms around Arthur’s neck, laughing. Your time was just barely over 20 minutes. Arthur held you above you and spun you in a circle, and he kissed you when he stopped and let you down. You gladly returned it and smiled at him when you broke apart. Both of you let out a breath of air in a small laugh.

“Hey, looks like John’s matchmaking worked for you guys! Congratulations on both parts! So what are you guys gonna do now?” Jill asked.

“Oh, I don’t know. I think we’ll be spending more time together, though,” you said.

“I’d like to take you to see my hometown, London. What do you think?” Arthur asked you.

“I’d like that,” you replied with a smile.

“Well, I hope you guys have fun, and good luck with your relationship. Ya hear that, John? Your matchmaking worked for once!” Jill said.

You and Arthur laughed and hugged again, pressing your foreheads together. Now you were glad your friends had forced you onto this special edition episode instead of a different single-contestant episode.
And here we have the first of my Wipeout Blind Date series! :iconyayenglandplz:

You can find the Intro here: [link]
There you can also see which characters have been requested and which characters I've finished so far, as well as make requests there if you don't see a character you'd like! Make sure you check the restrictions I've made there before you request, please.

I don't own Wipeout or Hetalia. The obstacles mentioned in this chapter are the ones from Season Three's Blind Date Special: The Catapult, the Spin Cycle, the Triple Threat, Rib Rage, and the Gauntlet (consisting of the Spiked Whackers and the Arms and Dangerous).
