Pirate!England x Reader – Wanted Ch.1

The huge ship loomed above the others in the dock. Its figurehead, formerly a beautiful wooden mermaid, was faded and scratched. This was the ship you were to board.

This was the ship of the pirate Kirkland.

Underneath your simple maid's dress was a plain button-up shirt with a gray vest and a pair of patched breeches. You had hated pirates since they had killed your best friend five years ago, but this crew was different. They only took from the rich, and gave some of what they took to the poor. Not only that, but they didn't believe in the sailor's tale about women on board bringing bad luck. Hopefully they would take you.

You climbed the ladder and went to the captain's cabin. Luckily the rest of the crew was looking for supplies in town. Captain Kirkland allowed you in after a knock. After a demonstration of your… Skills… He allowed you to join the crew. He pointed you to the room where everyone ate, where he instructed you to take off the dress and wait for everyone to return.

When they did return, a few noticed you and surrounded you. Your (h/l) (h/c) hair swished as you looked for a way out. Next to you was a huge marble statue mounted on a pedestal. You lifted the whole pedestal (which weighed about a ton) and swung wildly. Crewmen jumped out of the way and stared. Suddenly they burst into laughter.

"She be a feisty one!"

"I can see why Cap'n let 'er on board!"

Another woman pulled you away after you set down the pedestal. She introduced herself as Alice.

"Ignore those sea-dog wankers. What's your name?" she asked.

"(f/n). (f/n) (l/n)."

"Aye, nice t'meet ya." Alice turned to the rest of the crew and stood on a table, pulling you up with her. "Oi, all you sea-dogs! Look alive! This here's (f/n), an' she be one of us now!"

You got off the table. Just as most of the crew started to draw closer, Captain Kirkland came in. He began to give a long speech to the crew as you found your way to the other women. You only managed to learn the names of two others, though: Elizabeta and Natalia.

You helped to serve the food, as you didn't know what else to do. Captain Kirkland sat at a table near you, alone except for a single other man with red hair. Neither one ate. Several crewmen looked very sick. A few even collapsed.

A very angry man stormed up to you. He had chin length wavy blond hair and blue eyes. The man started shouting.

"Ye poisoned them, didn't ye! Ye wretched girl! I oughta kill ye right 'ere an' now! Yer a witch, an evil woman bent on killing us all!" he shouted.

His shouting infuriated you. His accusations made your blood boil. After the last sentence you couldn't hold it in any more. Your best friend hadn't nicknamed you Dragon for nothing. You sucked in a deep breath.

"Do you have ANY idea how hard my life has been? My own family wanted to kill me! They called me a demon! People RAN FROM ME because they thought I was cursed! All I wanted was to help people! All I wanted was to become a doctor! Only one person in the ENTIRE WORLD has EVER supported me, and evil pirates like you took her from me! You want to know why I'm here? It's so I can find the coward calling himself a pirate and avenge my only friend in the world!" you bellowed. As you spoke you pulled a knife from under your shirt and pointed it at the man's throat. You stepped closer every few words, making him step back. He tried shoving tables in front of you to stop you, but you threw them out of the way with one hand. Finally he was up against the wall. You threw your knife, which dug itself into the wall less than an inch from the artery in his neck. You stepped up and grabbed his neck, holding him up with one hand.

"If I wanted everyone here dead, everyone WOULD be dead. Got that?" The man gulped and nodded. You dropped him and snatched your knife from the wall, nearly taking a chunk of it with you. As you resheathed it under your shirt and turned away, you spoke again.

"I am no demon, and I am not a witch. I was blessed by the one they call 'God,' but all it has brought me is pain."

Captain Kirkland stood up and clapped. "Bravo, my dear, bravo!" He stepped in front of you, grinning. "Now ye said ye wanted to be a doctor, correct? How much do ye know? Can ye help the crew?"

"Aye, I can help. Someone bring one of the men to this table here!" you said as you righted one of the tables.  The man who had been threatening you and the red haired man, who you believed to be the first mate, carried one of the collapsed men to the table.

You leaned over him, looking for signs of blood loss. Finding none, you asked the crew if he had seemed different or lazy recently. The reply was yes. You pulled up his shirt to see several bruises and another one forming, along with rough patches and discoloration of the skin. Moving his lip aside, you saw bright red gums and loose teeth. The crew was watching you, some curiously and some suspiciously.

You straightened, wiping your hands on your breeches, and turned to the captain. "Captain, sir, this man has scurvy. I'm sure the rest of them have it too."

"How can it be cured?"

"It is caused by lack of vitamin C, so we just need to include fruits and foods rich with vitamin C in the meals. This includes oranges, lemons, strawberries, bell peppers, carrots, potatoes… Fresh meat will do the trick, too."

"It will, will it? Then go with Alice to get what we need. Take this to pay for it," the captain said. He handed you a bag of money, full of gold, silver, and bronze coins. Alice threw your dress to you so you could pull it on, and you grabbed a bucket to fill with the food.

You filled the bucket and Alice's dress apron with food. As you passed the captain, you handed the bag back to him and hurried to where the sick crew members were. You cooked up some of the food and made a potato and meat dish for them. You placed it on plates for everyone and put either a strawberry or carrot on each plate too. Passing it around, you instructed them all to eat up.

The captain watched you bustling around. He smiled and flicked the brim of his hat. "Well, Alice, Allistor, I believe we've found our new doctor."

"Aye, th' lass be amazin'… How'd ye find th' lass?" Allistor asked.

"She came here herself, brother… If ye had seen what she's 'blessed' with, ye'd know why she will be so important in our search…"

"Arthur, don't be mentionin' th' search. Ach, if th' crew hears we'll be knee-deep in shit…" Allistor warned.

"What about me? And what do you mean by 'search?' Is something going on?" you asked. You were standing in front of the siblings, holding a plate of food for each of them and yourself. Allistor nearly jumped a foot while Alice laughed at him. The captain just smiled.

"Allistor here was a bit curious of what you meant by blessed… And as for the search-"

"Arthur!" Alice and Allistor said at the same time.

"Ah ah ah, I know what I'm doing. We can trust her. Not only that, but with that hearing of hers she's going to find out anyways. All right?"

"All right…" they muttered.

"Okay! Like I was saying… The search I mentioned is for two things. These two things are the ultimate treasures of the sea: the Magician's Jewels and the Holy Score. I know ye understand that we are an unusual crew that helps poor and only steals from the stingy rich families. These treasures can make it possible to keep our crew safe during these, ah, raids," Captain Kirkland explained.

Your hand flew up to your hair. It was disguised as running a hand through your hair, but you had to make sure it was safe. When you found out you were blessed, a voice in your head told you to "protect the jewel" as a single amethyst floated down into your hands. Was your gem one of those jewels? Only one way to find out…

"I see… Captain, I… I need to talk to you. Alice, Allistor, make sure you eat this… I don't need anyone else sick." You handed off two of the plates, holding onto the other two for you and the captain. He took a plate and nodded.

"Aye. Come with me, (f/n). We can talk in my cabin." Arthur began walking away, leaving you to follow him. You turned to him once in his room.

"The 'Magician's Jewels' you mentioned… Would this be one of them?" you asked, holding out the braid the amethyst was woven into.
Finally, I got the first chapter up! I've had this written in my notebook for so long that I don't even remember when I wrote it any more. I already have about five chapters at least written out; they just need to be typed.

Please let me know what you think!

When whole witch thing started I was all like...

"Yes I have red hair and if I am correct it was at this time that I burnt red haired females at the stake, it seems you are morally correct sir."
